DT-MRI provides information regarding the local orientation of white matter fiber bundles. This orientation information allows one to trace and visualize fiber bundles [1]. DT-MRI also provides important structural information regarding white matter such as fractional anisotropy (FA), which provides an estimate of the degree of directional specificity of diffusion. In this paper, we present a method that uses fiber tracking to identify white matter fiber bundles and interrogate the structural properties of the underlying tissue.

Unsupervised white matter fiber clustering and tract probability map generation: Applications of a Gaussian process framework for white matter fibers
With the increasing importance of fiber tracking in diffusion tensor images for clinical needs, there has been a growing demand for an objective mathematical framework to perform quantitative analysis of white matter fiber bundles incorporating their underlying physical significance. This article presents such a novel mathematical framework that facilitates mathematical operations between tract...
متن کاملTract-Based Morphometry
Multisubject statistical analyses of diffusion tensor images in regions of specific white matter tracts have commonly measured only the mean value of a scalar invariant such as the fractional anisotropy (FA), ignoring the spatial variation of FA along the length of fiber tracts. We propose to instead perform tract-based morphometry (TBM), or the statistical analysis of diffusion MRI data in an ...
متن کاملFiber Tractography and Diffusion Tensor Imaging in Children with Agenesis and Dysgenesis of Corpus Callosum: A Clinico-Radiological Correlation
Background Corpus callosum is the largest commissure in human brain. It consists of tightly packed white matter tracts connecting the two cerebral hemispheres. In this study we aimed to evaluate role of fiber tractography (FT), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in ped...
متن کاملHierarchical Density-Based Clustering of White Matter Tracts in the Human Brain
Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DTI) provides a promising way of estimating the neural fiber pathways in the human brain non-invasively via white matter tractography. However, it is difficult to analyze the vast number of resulting tracts quantitatively. Automatic tract clustering would be useful for the neuroscience community, as it can contribute to accurate neurosurgical plannin...
متن کاملTract Profiles of White Matter Properties: Automating Fiber-Tract Quantification
Tractography based on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) data is a method for identifying the major white matter fascicles (tracts) in the living human brain. The health of these tracts is an important factor underlying many cognitive and neurological disorders. In vivo, tissue properties may vary systematically along each tract for several reasons: different populations of axons enter and exit t...
